Trappers talking trapping.

A modern forum for the craft. Technique threads, regional reports, trap mods, fur handling critiques, and beginner help — all in one place. No Facebook algorithm, no 2005 phpBB theme, no vendor-spam.

Forum launch — summer 2026.

We're opening the forum alongside the Phase-5 milestone. Create an account now to reserve your username, and we'll email you the day categories go live. Early members pick the first pinned threads.

Planned categories

The categories below are the opening slate. They'll evolve based on what the community actually uses — we'll add, merge, or retire categories as activity patterns emerge.

01

General Discussion

Open conversation — anything trapping-related that doesn't fit a narrower category.

02

Trap Modifications

Spring swaps, pan tension, base-plating, and every other way to tune a trap.

03

Fur Handling

Skinning, fleshing, stretching, and grading photos — peer feedback on real pelts.

04

Beginner Questions

No dumb questions. First-season trappers asking the veterans. Everyone started here.

05

Regional Reports

State-by-state season reports, ice conditions, fur prices at local buyers, scouting intel.

06

Buy / Sell / Trade

Used traps, lure lots, pack baskets, stretchers. Classified-style listings with no middle-man fees.

Community guidelines

  1. Treat other members like they're sitting across from you at a truck-stop counter. Disagreement is fine; personal attacks aren't.
  2. No photo-dumping dead animals without context. Catch photos that come with technique discussion or regional reporting are welcome.
  3. No advertising your shop or commercial service outside the designated threads.
  4. Poaching, illegal methods, and illegal species are off-topic and get the thread removed.
  5. Political threads get closed. Trapping's already hard enough without it.

Moderation is handled by the UnitedTrappers team. Disagreement with a moderation call goes to admin@unitedtrappers.net.

Until launch, good places to talk trapping

Not a bad time to stay plugged into the existing communities:

  • trapperman.com The veteran forum. Dense, opinionated, and loaded with institutional knowledge.
  • r/trapping Reddit's trapping community. Busier than most expect; reasonable signal if you skip the karma chasing.
  • Your state trappers association Every state has one. They run rendezvous events, fur auctions, and lobbying. Join yours.
